D. Your Child and $3,000,000

If your child reads well enough to get a job in a technological economy, you can probably expect him or her to earn, on average, at least $50,000 per year over a working lifetime of 40 years.

That's $2,000,000, and does not include fringe benefits and pensions, which is perhaps another $1,000,000 or so.

So when you see your three-year old at dinner tonight rubbing mashed potatoes into his hair, just remember you're looking at $3,000,000.

Minimum.
